Dear sister Winchell,

having an opportunity to convey a letter to you I cheerfully improve it, [undecipherable] received your letter to the church, and was much rejoiced to learn that you still remember zion with that affection that you could take the time to refresh their minds by an epistle and that you were still steadfast and persevering

dear sister I hope you never will feel [undecipherable] this glorious cause, though trials may arise and appear insurmountable and though the enemy point all his darts and lurk at every corner of your path, yet he cannot penetrate the armor of the gospel, neither can he step a foot in that highway of holiness that is cast up for the ransomed of the Lord to walk in, and though your conflicts in this warfare may seem severe yet they are but of momentary duration, in comparison with the eternity of unfading glory that awaits us. but the trials of the way are not all that we experience here. there is peace of mind, and such peace too as the savior can give, and such as the world cannot deprive us of. the Lord has been kind to us here, although we have had no general revival, there has not been a year, for eight years past but we have had some additions made to our number, by baptism, the fore part of the season we had seven, five from the sabbath school. at present it is a low time, we have a meeting appointed to come the first Sabbath in Nov. for prayer and fasting [undecipherable] and all others who feel an interest for zion that inclined to come and unite there prayers with ours. I hope dear sister, you will have your window open towards jerusalem, on tose days, that your prayers may journey with ours that the Lord would pour out his spirit here that precious souls may be saved from imprending wrath, it will probably continue, at least seven days, brother Ansel Knapp was here this morning, he wished me to remember his family to you, my family are well Mr. Stoddards love to you and yours, I remain yours affectionately in the bonds of christian love,

Charlotte Stoddard

P.S. I send this by Sister Wells, I have written in haste and not as much as I should like had I have had time.
